Do you want to save time using an electronic cutter to cut your fabric for applique using an electronic cutter? In this class Stephanie will walk you through how to save time and fabric using your electronic cutter. She will also teach you how to use heat transfer vinyl as your “fabric” for applique. This will be a fun class that will teach you some awesome new applique techniques.
Are you looking for a class where you can learn different techniques that can help you create a project that is truly unique? In this class you will be learning how to incorporate several disciplines into one project. For example, vinyl, embroidery, and heat press. This class will be super fun, as Stephanie Young with Siser leads the way. It will be a very interactive class in which you will be able to press items during the class. It takes up two class times, so you have plenty of time to complete the project.

SVG files are a versatile vector-based art format that are used by embroidery digitizers and graphic designers. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own original vector-based art (in SVG format) as well as edit existing files. We’ll be locating and installing new fonts, covering common editing techniques, and experimenting with brushes, lines, and shapes to produce different looks. Don’t think you have the right software? Have no fear – we will be using freely available programs.

How to digitize lettering – In this class we will delve into the tools and process followed to create designs that happen to look like letters – focusing on those created with the satin turning angle column style of embroidery. Satin stitches are the strongest stitches that can cause the most movement when stitched – in embroidery “bad words” think puckering, pulling, clumping and muddy looking stitches. So, we will discuss the planning as well as the digitizing tools and their implementation in order to get the results we are looking for.

In this class we will talk about collaboration in the industry and how building a network can help avoid purchasing bad artwork (stolen and badly redrawn art from Etsy, online groups, drives, etc.) Other positives of building a network of people that you know, like and trust to avoid being scammed or ripped off by those that are just out to make a buck and disappear or that convert printers (such as DTF) and do not know what they are doing so the end product fails.

We’re talking applique with the embroidery machine. I love it and have been doing it for over 20 years. But you tend to forget that not everyone else knows how it is done. So many projects have their roots in applique, including the popular in-the-hoop projects – what I like to call functional applique. So, we are going back to the basics. We’ll go over the basic steps, talk about the different stitches that can be used, and suitable materials, including tips on working with faux leather.

We will go through the basics of the programs from opening designs, resizing, adding lettering, and other customizing functions. From changing colors to adding new colors and working with the different parts of the designs – the learning won’t stop there! We will get into the sewing similar learn how to check out designs before they stitch – yes you can resize, but how do you know when it’s a good idea? Or, better yet, when you REALLY REALLY should do a test sew to verify it’s a good idea. Bring your questions and come ready to learn. This will be a “debate” style. Each vendor will be introduced, and then we will take turns asking each vendor a question from the audience. We will have sweet treats and kick off the fun with a crazy hat contest. You must register in advance to enter the contest and the winner will receive $200.00 in cash. The contest will be judged by the attendees in attendance. We will have a meet and greet following the vendor panel. This will be a great night of fun and networking among like minded people.

Skill: Any, but this class is paced for someone who is familiar with how embroidery designs stitch at
the machine. If you are new to machine embroidery and still learning your machine, you may feel more
comfortable taking this class without a laptop or looking on with a friend. Those that are also taking the first
class hands on or have been using the Embrilliance Essentials and want to learn more will be comfortable
taking this class.
Requirements: If you want to participate in this class hands on, you must bring your laptop with Embrilliance
Enthusiast installed and authorized. The Demonstration version can also be used for this class. The
Embrilliance software can be run natively on BOTH Mac and Windows computers, so both operating systems
are welcome. Those that are using Designer’s Gallery EmbroideryWorks are also welcome to take this class.

Take your embroidery design customizing one step further with Embrilliance Enthusiast. Although we LOVE
the patented Knockdown stitching in Enthusiast, there are many more functions to this program that you
don’t want to miss out on! In this class we will play with stitch editing to break apart our designs into
elements that we can then use to create new designs. From frames for labels and wreaths for monograms,
we will play with the automated functions and see how these streamlined features can take our design
customizing to the next level.

Yes, you read the title correctly! This is a hands-on digitizing workshop geared not only to those who are considering digitizing, but also to those who have been digitizing for years. The class is all about the initial foundation of theory John learned from his Schiffli mentor more than 33 years ago, and will contain the most important information you’ll ever learn about digitizing. If you’ve ever been to a hands-on software class before you might be skeptical, since often the person who knows the least get the most attention during class, while others are left waiting. Not this time! Two weeks prior to class attendees will download a demo version of the software and some basic tutorials about the tools needed for class. Because everyone will come prepared, laptop loaded with the demo software and knowing where the tools are, you’ll be ready for accelerated learning! Note: This software is developed for a Windows operating system. There are customers that run this software on their MAC computers when using Parallels.
