I have been sewing since I was six years old. I’ve always loved to do crafts and enjoyed teaching and sharing my passion with others. When I was thirteen years old, I taught my mom to sew, she is the person on the left in the photo. It was wonderful to be able to work on crafts and sew together with my mother. Eventually we both were hired at a local fabric store and were able to work together for several years.
My mom passed away from breast cancer in 2007 and sewing has become a therapy for me to deal with her loss. I love going into my fabric room and sewing. The colors and textures of the material evoke many wonderful and comforting memories of time spend with my mom.
I started All Stitched Up as a way to share my love for sewing and quilting with others and to keep the memory of my mother alive in my heart.

I’ve been sewing as long as I can remember, and it is no stretch to say that sewing is in my bones. Literally. When I was a child, my mother and my grandmothers were excellent seamstresses and let me create with them my whole life growing up. At some point in my life, while under their guidance, I must have slipped away and stepped on a needle…because some twenty years later an X-ray revealed one embedded deep in my foot! This caused a minor panic in the ER, but it was painless, and had been present for years so I opted not to have surgery. That needle remains with me even now as a very special connection to my craft.

Laser Bee Studio started from a love to create unique, handmade gifts using embroidery, vinyl and engraving. Our owners have been in the embroidery business for 20+ years. Machine embroidery gave us a great way to personalize items for customers. When the vinyl craze hit, we learned how to incorporate vinyl into our custom products. A few years back, we purchased a laser machine and expanded our products to include engravable items. After the need to find a way to organize our embroidery threads better, our exclusive thread drawer inserts were created. This opened the door for us to find more ways to create products to help sewing enthusiasts like us organize our sewing spaces better and more efficiently. This is Shanna and Andy and we are a little mom and pop shop in small town Nebraska. GlitterBugFairy started in 2014 selling embroidery vinyl out of our tiny living room and has grown to all sorts of embroidery and crafting supplies. It is still ran out of our home, but now it is a much larger home (and feels even bigger since 3 of our 5 kids have grown up and moved out on their own now, although the dogs seem to take almost as much time as the kids did!) and have so much to offer both small time and big time crafters, long timers and newbies, experienced and just getting your feet wet people. Using those BIG hoops for BIG projects is a fun class showing best practices to use embroidery machines’ BIG hoops to create dramatic Applique and Embroidery projects. We will provide 4 machines at the front of the room, that you will be able to take turns to create your tag. You are also welcome to bring YOUR machine. We will have tables with power so you will be able to plug in and go. For those of you who would like to attend the class but not participate in the hands on portion, you can take the material home and create it there.

Applique designs are perfect for decorating wearables and quilts. Change the fabric and thread, and you have a “brand-new” design. But they can be so much more. All my free-standing and 3D designs began with a regular applique design. We’ll discuss edits that might be needed and materials that can be used to turn your static applique designs into works of art that can literally stand on their own. SVG files are a versatile vector-based art format that are used by embroidery digitizers and graphic designers. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own original vector-based art (in SVG format) as well as edit existing files. We’ll be locating and installing new fonts, covering common editing techniques, and experimenting with brushes, lines, and shapes to produce different looks. Don’t think you have the right software? Have no fear – we will be using freely available programs.

Learn how to design and print custom apparel. All you need is a heat press. We will explore several different transfer offerings, show how they can be made, and offer application tips!
How to digitize lettering – In this class we will delve into the tools and process followed to create designs that happen to look like letters – focusing on those created with the satin turning angle column style of embroidery. Satin stitches are the strongest stitches that can cause the most movement when stitched – in embroidery “bad words” think puckering, pulling, clumping and muddy looking stitches. So, we will discuss the planning as well as the digitizing tools and their implementation in order to get the results we are looking for.

The class is all about the initial foundation of theory John learned from his Schiffli mentor more than 33 years ago, and will contain the most important information you’ll ever learn about digitizing. If you’ve ever been to a hands-on software class before you might be skeptical, since often the person who knows the least get the most attention during class, while others are left waiting. Not this time! Two weeks prior to class attendees will download a demo version of the software and some basic tutorials about the tools needed for class. Because everyone will come prepared, laptop loaded with the demo software and knowing where the tools are, you’ll be ready for accelerated learning!
