The Rule of 5

Looking to help reach your new year’s goals? Personal or business? When we spoke with Aaron Montgomery of Our Success Group, he spoke about the Rule of 5. Setting up your larger goal, then taking it down to attainable chunks of the goal. If we don’t work with the smaller chunks sometimes that goal on its own just seems way too big and overwhelming. Once you have a smaller maybe monthly or weekly goal that will help you reach your end goal, then you start your Rule of 5. These are 5 things that you will do every day that will help you reach your goal. It doesn’t have to be big either, it can just be 5 small things. For instance, I would like to grow my social media by the end of the year. 5 things that could help me every day:

1. Check social media

2. Post everyday (it can even be something silly)

3. Interact with those who comment

4. Interact with more accounts that do the same thing

5. Continue to write down content ideas

Let’s say I do that for a month and at the end of the month watch what happened to my account and see if I gained followers. If I did, I could continue doing the same or maybe even do more. If I didn’t see an increase maybe I need to tweak one or more of my 5 rules.

This is an easy way to create habits and make changes while still keeping the larger goal insight. If you want to hear more about this, please take a listen to one of Aarons podcast on The Rule of 5.
