Peggy Severt

Peg Board Crafts

Read Biography

I have been drawing since I can remember. My mom taught me to sew when I was in third grade. I’ve made clothing for myself and my kids, and lots of crafting projects. Then I discovered I love working with computers too. I was so excited when I saw my first embroidery machine and found out I could create embroidery designs from my own artwork and let the machine sew them out for me. I opened my website www.pegboardcrafts.com in 1998 where I specialize in appliqué and in-the-hoop designs. I started working with Embird and Embird Studio in 2004 and absolutely loved it. I am now the List Mom of two Yahoo Groups – AbsolutelyEmbird and Embird101 – where I am able to share my knowledge and help others enjoy machine embroidery as much as I do. I enjoy traveling to teach Embird classes at The American Embroidery Conference and my own Fly with Embird seminars. I began doing online classes in 2014  which are available as video classes on www.flywithembird.net. I am very excited to be joining The Everything Embroidery Market in Biloxi in 2017.

Sue Skeen

Sue Sews

Read Biography

Sue has had a passion for sewing all of her life, especially garment making and embroidery.  She loves figuring out how to make her project a one of a kind by combining the right fabric, pattern or design, and topping it off with the perfect embellishment.  She spent several years as a school teacher.  She opened Sue Sews in Hendrum, MN eight years ago.  She grew the business from small sewing machine dealer to a full-service quilt shop with an active online marketplace as well.  Last year she made the decision to move to Alabama and close the Sue Sews store in Minnesota.  She now enjoys the Conference circuit, both as a teacher and vendor.  As a teacher, she shares what many years of experience and active frequent trips to the Quilt Markets (to learn about new things in the industry) have taught her.
She has been machine embroidering for about 12 years, owning a variety of single and multi-needle machines.  She still uses both types, and finds some of the tricks of the trade differ, depending on the machine in use.  She has also been utilizing various computer software for those same 12 years – always quick to learn about the new version upgrades as they come out.  She truly believes that you need to find a software you like and understand, in order to fully enjoy using the designs you purchase or create.

Lisa Shaw

Embrilliance/Bubbles Menagerie Ltd

Read Biography

Lisa Shaw has been involved with machine embroidery education and inspiration since the mid 90s. Machine embroidery is her passion as well as her occupation – this combination makes for an artistic as well as efficient perspective for the needs of the machine embroidery software user.  Lisa’s teaching philosophy has always been that the computer is a tool, just like an oven. Its not the “smart one” in the relationship and we need to treat the computer like a tool, not a magic gizmo. The artistic beauty that we can create with the computer is found inside of each of us – and when using simple easy to use software programs, we can skip all the complex computer stuff and express our creativity.  www.Sew-Bubbles.com
