I have been drawing since I can remember. My mom taught me to sew when I was in third grade. I’ve made clothing for myself and my kids, and lots of crafting projects. Then I discovered I love working with computers too. I was so excited when I saw my first embroidery machine and found out I could create embroidery designs from my own artwork and let the machine sew them out for me. I opened my website www.pegboardcrafts.com in 1998 where I specialize in appliqué and in-the-hoop designs. I started working with Embird and Embird Studio in 2004 and absolutely loved it. I am now the List Mom of two Yahoo Groups – AbsolutelyEmbird and Embird101 – where I am able to share my knowledge and help others enjoy machine embroidery as much as I do. I enjoy traveling to teach Embird classes at The American Embroidery Conference and my own Fly with Embird seminars. I began doing online classes in 2014 which are available as video classes on www.flywithembird.net. I am very excited to be joining The Everything Embroidery Market in Biloxi in 2017.

Join Katie-Rebekah, owner of Simply Sweet Fabrics & Simply Sweet Stitches, for an encouraging and insightful class on using social media—especially TikTok—to grow your small business in powerful, authentic ways. What began as a simple leap of faith—“I want to try it because I see everyone else succeeding”—quickly became one of the best decisions she ever made for her business.

If you’ve ever expected thread to behave like paint… yeah, it’s not going to happen. Thread is more like Lego blocks—stacked, layered, and very intentional. So how do we fake blending and still get those soft, artistic transitions? In this lecture, we dig into how to use StitchArtist tools to create the illusion of blending—without fighting the reality of thread. We’ll break down: • Feathering (your new best friend for soft transitions) • Stitch length and density—how they impact coverage and shading • Gradient settings—what they actually do vs. what you think they do • Stitch angle—because direction matters more than most people realize This is about designing on purpose—using structure, layering, and a little strategy to create depth and dimension that looks smooth… even though it’s anything but. No paintbrush thinking allowed. We’re building with thread—and making it look amazing anyway.
